It is an unmissable opportunity to listen to Andrea Bacchetti, one of the greatest Italian master pianists, in a very prestigious concert. The occasion is the presentation of his latest CD, that is dedicated to the complete performance of Book II of the Well-Tempered Klavier by Johann Sebastian Bach ... Book II was compiled by Bach about twenty years later than Book I and it was intended to be complementary and yet much more complex than the first, presenting greater technical and structural difficulties for the interpreter, in order to be "the definitive workbook" ...

Tomorrow the Monteverdi Conservatory of Bolzano will host the critical presentation of the CD Das Wohltemperierte Klavier (Book II) by Bach (published by Arthaus Musik). It was recorded by the pianist Andrea Bacchetti, who will be present and will play some pages by Bach ...
Maestro Bacchetti, how did the recording project you will present in Bolzano come about?
«I am attracted by Bach's music. I knew his melodies when I was a child, but only after high school and my first specialist studies I did begin to appreciate him seriously. I happened to play the score - which is also on the CD - twice consecutively: the partiture goes on for four and a half hours of music...»

The italian newspaper La Repubblica dubbed Bacchetti as the "most talented Bach pianist" and this artist's new set of these immortal masterworks confirms that opinion. These are esceptional interpretations throughout - particularly moving being the F minor and G major - performances of a master interpreter of Bach and very well recorded. An outstanding release in every respect.

Affable, lively, lovable, curious, eclectic, electric. One, ten, one hundred thousand Andrea Bacchetti. He is a sprawling and protean pianist, who can illuminate the Roman atmospheres of Matia Bazar with his harmonization and also shadow the Venetian liquidity of Benedetto Marcello on keyboard. His persona is a synthesis of opposites: he is a genius of audacious disdain and a vertical and dizzying artist, an exuberant stoic and happily ferocious at the same time. Bacchetti outlines a «pocket history» of the piano, with the concert on schedule for the Brescia and Bergamo Piano Festival, on Thursday, May 11th at the San Barnaba auditorium ... «Facing such different pieces, I change attitude, touch, style - explains Bacchetti - I change colors and views. I make a cultured and attractive excursus». ...

«From Bach to Moonriver, my piano history»

Il Giornale di Brescia - May 9th, 2023 (Enrico Raggi)

Andrea Bacchetti presented a vast and varied program last night in San Barnaba for the Piano Festival. In the program, that went from Bach to Bacchetti's contemporaries, undoubtedly some moments shone in a particular way ... among the shining spots there was the debut piece, Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach, which Andrea Bacchetti tackled with his very particular style. We are not only talking about the extremely sustained speed in the entire playing, but especially in the cycle of Variations in which Bacchetti underlined the dance rhythms in a percussive and dizzying way and with an extremely pressing, and only in some moments thoughtful, pace. In the end the audience, in an almost feverish atmosphere, applauded even before the repetition of the opening Aria. Among the most beautiful moments there was also the second Improvviso by Franz Schubert (op.142), that begins with the famous initial theme which flows into the virtuosic central part before returning to the theme: Andrea Bacchetti rendered this poetic, beautiful piece with a levity that was worth the whole evening ...

... The secret point, the cornerstone and the beating heart must be discovered every time. Bacchetti's pianism is reminiscent of an icon that may seem flat, but the abyss is in the prayer of the observer (and the image solicits it). In Bach's «Goldberg» Bacchetti uses a crystalline, luminescent touch, nacre on the right and cello on the left. His lines are not chiseled but caressed. His ductile hand ...

On Friday, November 24th, the pianist Andrea Bacchetti held a concert with a program that ranged from Baroque to contemporary music at the Ridotto of the «Garibaldi» Municipal Theater of Figline and Incisa Valdarno. The soirée was part of the 2023-2024 Friends of Music of Florence Concert Season. ... being known for his discography and for his television appearances together with Chiambretti, Bacchetti managed to keep the audience glued to their seats for almost two hours with an unusual and unconventional way of the "classic" concert. ..., regardless of the philologists who would like the performance of these pieces only on the harpsichord, Bacchetti was strong in his conviction that it is a repertoire composed for «Klavier» and, in order to resolve certain situations, he resorted to articulations, unusual sounds and color differentiations so much so that he seemed to be inspired by organ recordings: that was made clear in his Bach interpretation, in addition to the variety in the choice of the Preludes.
The audience, attentive and involved, honored the pianist with numerous applauses.

Bacchetti, how did you set up the program?
«My idea was to put together a series of short pieces, shorter than nine minutes, all of them, starting from Bach (Toccata Bwv 914) and arriving to Rossini, passing through authors such as Liszt, Debussy and even Malipiero. The concert took place eight years ago, in the Gog season in Genoa at the Teatro Carlo Felice. We had excellent footage with six different cameras. A possibility that the album could not offer». ...
