Success of Andrea Bacchetti and Marco Guidarini at Teatro Carlo Felice
Two Genoese musicians at Teatro Carlo Felice, Tuesday evening, for a symphony concert
dedicated to 20th Century. Marco Guidarini, on the podium of the Genoese theatre orchestra,
played an interesting program based on Ravel and Rota.
By the French composer, the audience has listened to two works that originally were conceived
for keyboard and then revisited for orchestra: "Ma mère l'Oye" and "Pavane pour
une infante defunte". These scores are extremely refined for their dense lyricism, the
extreme taste in mix of tones.
Guidarini's interpretation has been able to underline these qualities with cleverness. Being
an artist with sober and controlled gesture, Guidarini ensured an elegant interpretation, ductile
in dynamic choices and well record in orchestra's single sections. There are also two pages by
Nino Rota. The "Concerto Soirée" for keyboard and orchestra were executed for the first
time in 1962, the author playing keyboard and Bruno Maderna on the orchestra podium. It's a vivid
opera, marked by a delicious work of integration between piano and orchestra, a gentle dialogue
in which come out reminiscences of movie scores by Rota, as "La Strada" and "8½".
Indulged by Guidarini's punctuality, Bacchetti, pianist with solid technique and lucid interpretative
maturity, ensured a clear, rich of nuances and verve execution, with the right dose of irony in
phrasing. Closing, the "Sinfonia sopra una canzone d'amore", composed in 1947 but executed
twenty-five years later, articulated in four movements that underline the interesting work by Rota
with the orchestra. Also in this case, Guidarini gave an interpretation of undoubted pleasure.
Hearty applauses.
